The Company is currently operating in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Nevada, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.  The Company focuses on all aspects of the cannabis industry and seeks to control the cultivation, processing and dispensing of its product in every state.

 

 

Job Description

The Tax Director will own the domestic tax compliance and reporting process.  This individual will implement best practices for compliance and reporting as well as:

  • Establish the process for performing and coordinating the Organization’s’ review of tax allocations and provisions of partnership income and the tax provisions for corporations
  • Build a best-in-class process to compile and review tax data for federal and multi-state tax return & Schedule K-1 preparation -both partnership and corporations
  • Identify and perform/review states withholding tax requirements relating to state income allocation to nonresident recipients
  • 280(e) tax compliance
  • Manage any interactions with tax authority requests & notices
  • Respond to investor tax inquiries or ad-hoc requests
  • Develop  tax procedures at operating companies
  • Research domestic and foreign tax reporting issues
  • Coordinate with financial reporting and tax advisors to ensure proper accounting of transactions
  • Support Finance team & liaise with other business units, as needed
  • Assist with tax implications related to M&A transactions           
 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA required
  • A total of 8+ years of experience with at least 4 years of Big 4 experience in corporate and partnership taxation
  • Experience in International tax is a big plus
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with complex data to drive decision-making
  • Ability to produce timely and accurate records, with an emphasis on the importance of supporting work paper documentation
  • Effective verbal and written communicator
  • Highly organized and proactive, with follow-through on commitments
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic culture, with the ability to take initiative and be hands-on
