The Beginning

Acreage’s roots in the cannabis industry go back to 2011 with an investment in a Maine license and an understanding that this miraculous plant has the power to heal and change the world. Over the years that followed, the company’s participation in the movement grew and evolved, transitioning in 2017 from an investment vehicle to a leading, vertically integrated multi-state operator.

2018-2019: The Birth of Our Brands

Acreage cemented its place as an industry game-changer during this period. Board appointments from across the political and commercial spectrum helped legitimize cannabis among investors and regulators. Press coverage of the broadcast TV rejection of our “Time Is Now” Super Bowl PSA, which called for further cannabis reform, reached billions. We began rolling out our house of brands, including consumer brands like The Botanist and Live Resin Project, both of which took home honors at the Emerald Cup, the premier product competition in cannabis. And we entered an arrangement with Canopy Growth Corporation, setting the stage for a combined global cannabis powerhouse once it’s federally permissible for Canopy to acquire our company (see more about the arrangement and its subsequent amendment here).

2020 and Beyond: The Start of the Future

Last year will be forever remembered as unlike any. As the nation – and our company – grappled with the challenges of COVID-19, Acreage continued its mission to deliver the very best products and customer experience to our consumers and patients. Our house of brands debuted in more markets, including two leading adult-use markets, Illinois and Massachusetts. And we introduced Tweed, an example of Acreage’s ability to access the intellectual property of Canopy Growth Corporation. Under new leadership, and with the best team in cannabis aligned against a refocused growth strategy, Acreage’s future is as bright as it’s ever been.
